“David Stockman Everyone Should Hear It”

Really enjoyed your interview with David Stockman. EVERYONE should hear it.

What struck you about David’s episode in particular?

What struck me: an entirely believable and rational explanation for world events that followed the slaughter of WW1. I have not read his book, but have now ordered it and look forward to hearing his take on the causes of that horrible and horribly unnecessary conflagration (WW1). I believe it was bankers that were at the root of it, as I believe they have been at the root of all wars since. A horrible, horrible bunch of psychopaths.

And the method by which bankers wreak their havoc is through fiat money, its issuance and their control of interest rates. They have to keep the world ignorant of this, which they do by control of the media and what is taught at universities (this they achieve by financing university chairs and appointing people that will not teach what is really going on in the world of finance).

Hopefully the major events presently taking place will lead to profound changes. In the meantime we rely on brave and honest people like you and David Stockman to do your profoundly important work of educating the ignorant.

Let me just thank you from the bottom of my heart for making all this information available to the public. I’m a fairly young guy from a French speaking weird part of this world called Quebec. Money here is seen very negatively and for a youngster to breakout and reach for trading success is quite unusual. Thanks to you I was able to wrap my arms around trend following at a very young age. Everything I did after reading your books was done in a way to connect more and more with trend following. My entire mind is now being reprogrammed slowly with time and effort. Not only have I read everything available on the subject but I also made it mine by taking time to understand it…I mean understand. Trend Following and Tim Ferriss Feedback

Hi Michael, I am a trend following trader and entrepreneur based in [City] and [City]. I have to tell you that you have become a mentor to me even though we haven’t met. You have helped give me the tools, conviction and confidence to believe in trend following and put it into practice. Admittedly it took me a long time to fight through the noise, particularly because I spent 10 years on an institutional equity desk in NY and Toronto. Ironically a traditional commission based institutional broker/investment bank is the absolute worst place to gain confidence as a trend following trader. The brokerage house is all about “the story” and predicting the future never even touching risk management, position sizing or exit strategies. I first bought your TurtleTrader product around 2000 after devouring the website and wanting more, but I was 26 and on my way up the corporate ladder at Merrill Lynch. My ego always got in the way and I didn’t have enough quiet time to think and read and gain the confidence that is so critical. I also was still searching for the “holy grail” not knowing I’d already found it.

Years later I picked up my study of trend following again after rereading Reminiscences of a Stock Operator. I then read your books and then ordered your current product. I now turn to the podcasts when I want ideas refreshed or motivation and I look forward to hearing your interviews.

This message could not have asked for a better messenger Michael. You kick ass with your podcasts. You are honest and direct and even funny at times. I’ve even got my gf to listen to a few. The episode with Vernon Smith was particularly powerful. Putting this out there for free is mind blowing and I’m very grateful to you for putting out such an incredible body of work. You are affecting people’s lives and I thank you for affecting mine.

Okay, enough smoke up your ass.

Tim Ferriss should be on your podcast and/or you should be on his. In his most recent episode (63), he talks about his investing style toward the end and why he is scared to invest in public markets. He can’t deal with the ups and downs of staring at rising and falling equity so he only invests in startups. What struck me is that he is basically following a trend following risk model in his angel investing. He accepts that less than 50% will be winners and diversifies with the assumption that the winners will more than pay for the losers. Considering Tim’s expertise is in breaking down and mastering skills that have scientific and mathematical track records it seems to me that he would be interested in your work. I find it hard to imagine why anyone who wants to make money in the markets wouldn’t be interested in your work.

I have really enjoyed reading two of your books, Trend Following and The Complete TurtleTrader, over the 19 years that I have been involved in the markets and recently started listening to your podcasts. I am in the process of relocating to Singapore and it was from one of these podcasts that I learned you are currently there. Unfortunately, I am not there next week to attend the Bloomberg/MTA Singapore ‘Systematic Trading for Investment Professionals’ seminar, but would really appreciate an opportunity to meet with you and ask a few questions.

I first started in the markets in 1996 on LIFFE and relocated to Australia in 2002 where I was a futures broker for a couple of years [we used to execute (Turtle) Elizabeth Cheval’s EMC orders] and then I became a prop trader in 2005. I am now working for a company called [name] assisting one of the senior portfolio managers but am really keen to explore and learn more about trend trading, as from experience, I can see the benefits & upside of having predetermined entry and exit points based on price action.

Your Little Book changed my life man. I devoured it within what seemed like minutes, following many hard to read technical analysis books. Drowning in books, having the belief trading had to be an extremely complicated venture [was killing me]. Your influence gave me the AHA moment many times over again.
