My challenge [on trading] after 13 years of consistent failure to make money is to convince myself that I can win. So much depends on it (not my personal well-being!).

What strategies do you use?
Way back 2009, I started with a local (Melbourne) acquaintance trading 5 minute charts. He seemed to know what he was talking about and claimed to be making money. He ran a 2 week course for his friends— some mutual and I tagged along. No charge. Nobody made $ but I had caught the bug. Then I used/tried Bill Poulos various intraday methods. Bought lots of his DVDs + book courses. Couldn’t win. Lost a few hundred grand. Then tried Justin Bennett (Daily Price Action). No luck. More losses. And there were one or two “cowboys” along the way and lots of books. All favoured trading with the trend as I recall. Their methods all had their names – some proprietary – but all used the standard terminology for candlestick patterns and trigger bars. About 20 months ago I was hit by a car while riding my motorcycle and that triggered a heart issue resulting in open heart surgery. Didn’t do much trading after that— lack of energy, memory issues but motivation after years of no success also plays its part I’m sure. I’m now “getting back on the horse”. Body is good – and hopefully the brain!
You probably didn’t need all that but, what the heck, this time we win!
I would ditch all of those trading “techniques” and go trend following.

Just wanted to reach out with a brief introduction and some feedback and suggestions.
I am a regular guy with a regular job from Australia that has a keen interest in continually improving my investment performance and other aspects of my life.
I came upon your work and website about a year ago, most likely as a result of your work on the Turtles, and purchased the Complete Turtle Trader and Trend Following. Both were great reads and remain regular references in my evolving journey moving forward.
I also am a subscriber to your Trend Following Podcast, listening to the recent releases as well as trying to work through the years of archived material. The monologues have recently become my favourite— leaves me pondering and reflecting on particular issues around us.
Your work has been very educational, inspiring and motivating. I have the learnings to confirm changes in direction in not only my trading direction but also personal life. I am looking at developing a lifestyle that will allow me to be more nomadic and portable— currently researching, preparing and working to make the necessary changes in the foreseeable future. My tickets to Vietnam have recently been booked. I will check out Ho Chi Minh and perhaps Da Nang, Hoi An and Nha Trang on this occasion and prepare for a much longer excursion next year back to Vietnam and several neighbouring countries. I have been thinking about it for some time and finally pulled the trigger when I saw the opportunity.
I always ask myself “If not you, then who? If not now, then when?”.
You often speak about serendipity being one of your favourite words. And indeed it is. Word and meaning.
I have recently come across a word that I found interesting in many aspects of life. Sophistry or Sophism.

I’m not sure if you are bot or real human.
I’d like to share the biggest challenge [on trading].
First one, I don’t know what’s the best trading way. There are kinds of winners— day trader, long-term trend trader, fundamental trader, technical trader. And there are so many tools, charts, indicators. It looks like all of them are effective. I have read Schwager, Larry William and John Murphy. The more I read, the more confuse I am.
Second one, I trade with fear and regret to lose, and then regret to miss the chances.
Could you please tell me the secrets of winner?
