Boy, the world is just nuts, isn’t it? My goodness.

I’m so thankful for your book which I read in [date] at 23 yrs old. It set the foundation on how to think and poke holes in things. Your book was the spark that led me to the Trading Tribe, working on myself and improving my game. I’ve made great friends and have broken through my own personal barriers.

It led me to Jerry Parker, who has become a great friend… We collaborate, debate and argue over a wide variety of things — most recently, the decision to pull Snell in Game 6.

I’m thankful for this foundation. It’s allowed me to think clearly and achieve peace of mind during these wild times. It’s allowed me to share how I arrived at my view(s) (explaining the process) with my friends. It’s allowed me to not contribute to the noise, but to tune in to a signal then dissect it and move to the next one.

My friends and family say I’m exhausting because I just don’t let them slip out of their opinions and rationale without explaining it. “How do you know what you know” is a question I often ask. “Don’t blame me for being this way. It’s all Covel’s, Seykota’s and Parker’s fault!”

By way of introduction, I am new to trading, since I decided to leave my money manager/broker and take things into my own hands a few years ago. I have traveled the maze of investing and trading Services, Advisor’s and teachers with their newsletters, approaches and indicators. After spending too much money with little to show, (I’ve learned a tremendous amount), it then occurred to me that I needed to find my own way since I didn’t quite fit and couldn’t ultimately trust what was offered. I was introduced to the importance of self knowledge, risk management and system design through courses with Van Tharp. trading a trending market with breakouts and retracements made sense, but I lacked the bigger picture. I’ve read Michael’s books and enjoy his podcast and have really come to respect and appreciate his courageous and inspired journey and insatiable curiosity in researching, tracking down and synthesizing this “Trend Following” body of knowledge and experience. I was surprised to find this Flagship product which seems to possibly provide the answers that I’ve been looking for but…

I came across you from the trend following advocate in my hometown Malaysia recently. I have since conducted reading and research on the issues of trend following and realize what I have been doing in my previous years of trading and investment journey has been futile. The biggest challenge I faced is to follow the trend. Instead, I keep going against the trend picking market tops and bottoms. My biggest challenge is getting into the market at the wrong time. It seems like as soon as I make an entry, the market flips on me. Ever since I’ve been reading your book I have realized that the trend is your friend. I’m learning that, if you have a bullish view on the market or an asset, an uptrend should confirm that bullish view and likewise, if you have a bearish view, then a downtrend should confirm that view. Reading your book and other material confirms this theory as a market has three movements, up, down, or sideways. So, now my challenge is going to be how to enter and how to exit a trend. Thanks for the message, I did try to view the video but I have very poor internet comms where I am so it is not really possible (I’m offshore so it’s a shared satellite data link – not the best for streaming). But I am a fan. I have already read your Turtle Traders book and I have just ordered your most recent edition of the Trend Following: How to…. Which will be ready for me to read when I get home again. Thanks for your efforts to make the public aware of this technique, I am looking forward to making some money and maybe getting out of the offshore industry at last!
