Hi Michael,

First of all, I wanted to thank you for the amazing content on your podcast. Tons of value and in every episode, I’m really enjoying it. My main challenge with trading is that there is a really big distance between the theoretical ideas and actual implications. What I really need is a good strategy of how to implement the trades. Any strategy that is based on trusting a subscription list of recommendations to buy or sell does not sit right with me. I can definitely take advice and if there is a proven system of how to do it I’m in, but I need to understand and feel confident before I can trust anyone.

I hope this email finds you well.

Patience and uncertainty are my biggest challenges. I’m too impatient to wait to see a profit. (i.e. holding on to a stock for a year). Having a lack of experience in analyzing financial statements is my next challenge. I’ve read that financial statements are not appreciated much in trend following, but how does one pick healthy stocks that are about to go up soon, and not get delisted?

Let go of this fundamental mindset. You are chasing your tail. No one can pick stocks about to go up soon. That’s not trend following. Dive in.

Dear Michael,

Good morning!

Having looked at your website, and its charts, I notice that they are all daily results. Does this mean the system only works on a daily basis, or can it work on a shorter time frame? Please note that I tried it on five(5) minute periods and that seemed to work, so I am now trying it on hourly periods. My reasoning is that with shorter time frames there will possibly be less brokerage fees. Am I correct in this reasoning?

PS: I’m a 75 year old British expat living overseas. Also an ex-RAF avionics technician with a perfectionist bent, so this exacting methodology of sticking with only the price facts, appeals to me.

No minutes bars. No hourly bars. That’s no day trading.

I am torn between being a discretionary trader who I am now and taking the time to learn the math and programming to become a quant trader and automate my trading. It is the fun of discretionary trading that I enjoy.

Discretionary is gambling. Not trading.
