Hi Michael,
The biggest challenge that I am facing is that I don’t have a system to follow. All this time, I have been doing discretionary trades which led me to blow the account 6 times till now. No risk management, no entry and exit rules.
I would like to work on building a system for positional swing trading.

My biggest challenge is having a strategy to use. I have been watching CNBC, Benzinga videos and other trading news to figure out how to analyze markets to enter and when to exit. My returns have been minimal as I have been holding most of my positions waiting for them to go higher or come back to the green. I recently started reading your Trend Following book and like the idea of not having to deal with the news and fundamentals. Having a set of rules of what and when to enter and exit sounds great to me. I believe I also have the patience for this strategy as I don’t want to be a day trader. I just want to make money to make life more comfortable and support my family going forward.

My guest today is Toby Ord, a philosopher at Oxford University, working on the big picture questions facing humanity. His current research is on risks that threaten human extinction or the permanent collapse of civilization, and on how to safeguard humanity through these dangers, which he considers to be among the most pressing and neglected issues we face. He has advised the World Health Organization, the World Bank, the World Economic Forum, the US National Intelligence Council, and the UK Prime Minister’s Office.
The topic is his book The Precipice: Existential Risk and the Future of Humanity.

Mr. Covel, I am a long-time listener of your podcast and have read two of your books: ‘The Complete Turtle Trader’ and ‘Trend Following Mindset’. Both are 5-star, terrific books. ‘The Complete Turtle Trader’ being one of those books that I can look back on in my life and remember exactly what I was doing and what was going on in my life as I read it. And, more importantly can tell the difference in my life since reading it. A few minutes ago I finished your latest podcast ‘Amplify the fiction. Hide the truth.’ And I just feel compelled to write to you and thank you. To thank you for always amplifying the truth. Or for just amplifying how you truly think and feel. Maybe it’s not the “truth”? I think that it is because I think and feel mostly the same way. Maybe we’re wrong. Maybe we’re not. But where we are more right than wrong is in the how when we are proven wrong we are able to admit it and move on to what is right without much resistance. Anyway, in a world where there aren’t many of us left. At least many of us with an audience, I want to say again THANK YOU! And, if there is anyway I could be of assistance with any of your work I would love to work with/for you. As an unpaid intern or whatever. Just collecting data or doing any of the tedious, remedial crap you don’t enjoy doing but have to do. I know you probably don’t need any help with any of that but just offering if you ever do. I’m a trader. Have been trading for a little over four years now. I am from a small town in Kentucky so I don’t have a chance of finding anyone around here with any knowledge of the markets or this world at all. Anyway, thanks again for everything you do Mr. Covel!

My biggest challenge in trading has been the emotional / psychology part of the business. I am currently re-writing my Trading Business Plan which neglected that part of the business now that I have 3 years of experience. I am focusing more on how I am responding to the markets and keeping my trading strategies simple with proper risk management. The constant underlying theme has been that I will become a consistently profitable trend following swing trader. I’m not giving up until I get this.
I like to read, so which of your books would you recommend for my trading style?
