I’ve been listening to your podcast for several months now and wanted to thank you.

I’m a 20-year-old in a 58-year-old body. I work out every day and enjoy listening to you at the gym.

Been trading stocks since I walked into a brokerage in the 70’s and set up an account in elementary school. Only to do the math and figure out I just paid 60% in commissions.

Anyways, love your podcast and dream of being in [Asia] instead of my 3rd wife in CA.

I got two of your books! And Market Wizards.

Thanks so very much again Michael! Will read up and too funny in St Michaels MD on trip with my family. I can do this! And my performance is going up finally just learning the basic rules as I have made major mistakes after a year or so by not setting those stops and buying risky under 5$ ones. I have yet to begin as I’m not buying the markets indices etc yet. Just stocks using price action.

My biggest challenge is that I am in the industry and I am flooded with opinions, charts, sellside research and twitter traders data. Without irony some of the twitter traders are actually the greatest value add. I’ve read Trend Following and I am in the middle of Turtles and Trend Commandments. I have witnessed a “small time” trend follower make over $10m in a year on commodities/crypto proxies and it blew my mind. I could have mirrored easily but I just piddle paddled in day trading Covid trash names handing back half of my moves most times.

My biggest questions are and always will be “What is the trend?” and “How do I recognize a true trend?” I anticipate yearly macro stories but miss the “trend”. I have a good return but not great. Overall, I need rules and discipline to reign in my bullshit.

I’m a big fan of the books and I also have Turtle on Audible for my commutes to Palo Alto (when I show up).

Just listened to the recent post with Christopher Chabris and agree with most of what he said, but the devil is always in the details and how much can we trust the data that’s available.

For example, I found it interesting that he believes the COVID shots were highly effective – not sure what data he’s basing that on. While Pfizer’s initial clinical trial data did show a 95% relative risk reduction for severe COVID, the absolute risk reduction, which is what actually matters and is how the data is supposed to be presented, showed a less than 0.8% reduction in severe COVID.

That’s assuming the data Pfizer supplied isn’t manipulated, and we are seeing in the Pfizer documents that the FDA was forced to make public that there were more all-cause deaths in the treatment arm than the placebo arm.

Curious to know if you have read “Turtles All the Way Down.” Different from your turtles but calls into question the science, using science and data, backing many of our beliefs about vaccines in general.
