I would say my biggest challenge is knowing how to get started, probably due to paralysis through analysis. Michael I’ve been listening to your podcasts on audible and I’m going to read your book as soon as possible, my main interest is being secure in both bull and bear markets and my question is how is the market structure going to change England over the next ten years in terms of the standard structure of investing because I see a shift in power between centralised and decentralised markets and as I listen to your podcasts I’m seeing that maybe nothing will change?
That’s fundamental thinking. Not trend following.

My guest today is Dr. John Abramson. He has been on the faculty of Harvard Medical School for twenty-five years, where he teaches health care policy. He also served as a family physician for 22 years, during which he was named a “top doctor” six times in local, state, and national surveys. He served as an unpaid consultant to the FBI and Department of Justice, including in a case that resulted in the largest criminal fine in U.S. history.

Mr. Covel, Thank you. I am a 24 yo guy from Norway, a financial advisor at a regional savings bank, and a soon to be trend follower. It’s taken me about two years of listening to your podcast for me to understand trend following. I must also add that reading “Thinking fast and slow” alongside listening to your podcast made it easier for me to eventually kill my obsession with explaining every move in the market. As if knowing why something happen after the fact gives some value to anything other than my own ego. “Statoil” (Norways largest gov. owned company) is down to day – it must be because the price of oil dropped, because the Arabs walked out of the meeting, because the Russians made an insult”…
I came across your podcast in Barry Ritholtz’s MiB and figured it’d benefit my thoughprocess regarding my work and private investing to have a source of completely different mindset to balance out the knowledge I take in. Free of charge from the internet mind you! No crazy school fees.
In my work the skill of storytelling gives an edge, and I’m confident in that area. It kills me to tell the story of buy and hold though. To make it even worse it’s part I do best because I’m really interested in the markets. What I’ve learned in investing is that you may fall short to your own skill of persuasion and stick by your trade for whatever stupid reason. I’ve now understood the meaning of price as the one factor to follow and not the report of some fairy tale telling fundamentalistic analyst.
I’d like to trade futures and find it a bit tricky to take the leap as this type as trading is unfamiliar to me. By now you probably understand that the investing I’ve done so far is passive indexes and common stocks.
Do you know of any quality blogs or such that focuses on a beginners guide to futures trading?
Yes, it would only take me about 5 minutes on google to find any number of articles or YouTube videos on futures, but I thought I’d let you know that your podcast really triggers me to follow my dream and make money in the markets. By now I should probably do the same as when I first heard you on MiB and find something else to listen to as well, as your podcast has completely taken over my playlist.
