“I am able to identify upcoming direction in the market using trendlines either broken or holding support or other breakout analysis…”

Feedback in:

I am able to identify upcoming direction in the market using trendlines either broken or holding support or other breakout analysis, but i don’t hold them long enough, or I add when i shouldn’t (before a counter trend pullback) and then I change my market direction outlook as I see its now going the other way and sometimes I’ll reverse my original position, then get run over by the oncoming train going in the first direction, just like I thought would happen.

This is gibberish. A dead end. Stop.

“My biggest challenge has been finding well articulated stock trading systems to test…”

Feedback in:

My biggest challenge has been finding well articulated stock trading systems to test. I paid for a course by a UK full time trader which when analyzed was very short on actionable detail. In your book Trend Following which I’m reading at the moment, your narrative on Bill Dunn described a trading system I had used when Forex trading but had discarded when I realized I was with a scam broker. I will have to revisit my Forex community as they seem more comfortable with sharing trading systems and see what I can adjust for stock trend trading.

Start here.

“My biggest challenge would be able to find a set pattern to follow and learn. I don’t want to be bouncing around and following different gurus every week…”

Feedback in:

Hi Michael, I’m brand new to trading with approximately one year of self-study. I have very little trading experience with approximately less than 10 trades in a year. Very little success in trades and seem to be right on target with making every mistake that all new traders make. I’m currently listening to turtle traders on audible. I was led to your TurtleTrader website while looking for the pdf notes to accompany the audible book. I’m really enjoying your turtle trade books and the logic in the book just seems to make sense to me. My biggest challenge would be able to find a set pattern to follow and learn. I don’t want to be bouncing around and following different gurus every week.

Follow no gurus. Find a strategy. That’s it. Read up on trend following.

“I am the type that will dive deep and design and confirm and commit to a trading model…”

Feedback in:

Hi Michael,

I’m a long time fan, and was deep into system trading with TradeStation, starting in 1997 thru 2000. This was before your books, but I was manic and consumed 3 trading books a week, and would program the models in TradeStation. The market was was my irrational patient and programming TradeStation was my instrument of diagnosis.

The twins were born in 2000 and I made the decision to stop actively trading. Through the intervening years, I would occasionally read an investing book or two. When I came across TrendFollowing, the wisdom and truth of all the information I have been sifting through and compiling for years…was finally and comprehensively collated in one book. Needless to say, I have read every book you’ve written since, and am a big fan of your Podcast. Thank you.

Biggest Challenge = Time commitment. I am the type that will dive deep and design and confirm and commit to a trading model, but with my busy lifestyle, the daily discipline of managing the system (checking the model and executing trades, etc.) is something I know will fall through the cracks. I could probably get up and going with TradeStation again, and I think they allow for system executed trades, but the time, effort, and cost involved are not insignificant. Any recommendations?

Thanks,
Taylor
