I am a complete convert to trend following.
I am a Registered Nurse by training (although I have not practiced since the 1980’s when I went to work as a stockbroker for three years and then went in to management in corporate America).
Currently I work at a rural hospital in Missouri that has about 2000 employees. I was asked to do an investing class (it in three sessions for a total of 4.5 hours). In my job I get to see basically what shape they are in financially when they retire. It is usually not a pretty picture. These are not lazy bums, they have in most cases worked for decades. However do to the MPT approach to their 401(k)’s they have poor returns.
I spend the first hour explaining why they need to learn to invest, an hour and a half on how to approach it, and the last two hour session doing some hands on the computer.
Of course I teach trend following!
If you could give me some advice on how to structure the classes, where (besides your books of course) to look for educational materials for them etc. It is a daunting task to try and convey this information to lay individuals in that short time.
