Good Morning Mr Covel,

My name is [Name], I’m 27 years old, and from my first day on a trading desk, I’m a huge fan of your podcast–website–books. I started my career helping a senior trader setting up a trend following trading company here in Geneva. We have been very successful from day one but mismanagement and lack of patience from the management resulted in a strategy’s change in the company (more macro/equity).

As you can imagine, this has structured my way of trading/approach. I’m currently an FX/Commos Trader at [Company], the trading arm of [Company]. Even if I can’t implement a complete TF program, I’m using this approach on a daily basis and I hope I’ll have the patience to use it for the next 40 years!

I am new to trend trading and have read The Complete TurtleTrader and starting trend trading. I am also part of a trading group where I learned trend trading with a coach. The most difficult issue I have had to date is the discipline of the process. The constant explanation and reinforcement of each podcast is invaluable. It sinks in little by little. I go away more convinced after each podcast that if they can do it, so can I. Thank you.

First, let me tell you how I learn and get boosted mentally from your podcast. I was on the path of systematic trading before I got to know about you but the great diversity of people and subjects of knowledge make your podcast a joy to listen to. Specially if you are in the business of increasing the confidence that one have in pursuing his own way of living and investing. Now, I tried to enter my appreciation about the podcast in iTunes but could not do it because we cannot see your podcast in the iTunes defined for Israel. If you would like a recommendation here, in LinkedIn, I would really be happy to give it to you.

Please send me the PDF about the new system. I am sure I can learn a lot from it although I am not a TradeStation user.

We Don’t All Live Forever

Hi Michael,

Love the podcast. Just started listening going back into the archives and have found it very enlightening. I have a question with regards to a comment you made in this specific podcast (364) about shooting for average and who wants to be just average. You are speaking my language there!

What is your response to people when they say they got rich because of investing in a diversified index portfolio instead of getting rich by taking on more risk?

For example, authors of books like “Millionaire Teacher” by Andrew Hallam or even the Coffeehouse books that claim to do really well by just buying index funds and riding the market returns instead of taking on more risk shooting for higher returns.

When people challenge me on the index fund thing saying it is the only way, my response is that the authors of these books got rich (define rich right!) because they ended up saving so much of their income as opposed to gaining their wealth through market returns. Both books (more so Hallam’s) talk about being frugal and then investing. I would love to hear how you answer this question!

If you don’t have time to answer, I totally understand and will still continue to be a loyal listener…

I listened to your podcast about your new trading system and would like to receive further information. Could you please send me the PDF on the system that you mentioned in the podcast?

Another thing on my mind: Keep up your great work! It is very inspirational. Your podcasts are always a highlight that I listen to when traveling to work. The ones regarding trend following are eye-opening and very educational as I am still learning a systematic and sustainable way to build a method to invest and compound my money for the future. But also the interviews you do on related topics give me a new view on a lot of things in life.
