I’m a relatively new trader and my biggest challenge with trading has been the most common mistake I guess, I’m talking about risk management, I have lost thousands of dollars before realizing how to manage the money, even that, I’m not consistently profitable yet. I still think I can make it, and right now I’m preparing for a next try, so meanwhile, I found you and started to hear your podcast, which leads me to your webpage and dig into your educational material. I’m Mohamed. I live and work in Paris area.

I was reading your book on trend following techniques in its French version (translated title “le trading directionnel”).

As I started trading some months ago, I’m so keen on learning everything related to the stock markets but most importantly, I want to discover real winning techniques and approaches which will help me achieve success.

So I visited the website TurtleTrader.com which you have mentioned in the book to learn a bit more about the turtle trader’s success story and how I can use their knowledge on the matter.

So if you have any materials or additional resources, please feel free to share it with me.

To answer your question short, my biggest challenge is mass information management.

Partially this is normal because I have been trading for less than a year and I need to get as much information about the markets, as well as different trading methods, as possible. At this point, I am quite convinced that Trend Following is what I find most enjoyable. Therefore my challenge can be qualified specifically to trend following.

I try to, but I’ve tried all sorts but can’t get consistent. I think one of my biggest issues is extending my stops until they are way out of control and therefore wipe out any previous gains.

I’ve only just started your book, but I am going to try and put some time aside over the next week to finish it.

Does Trend Following only work on longer timescales?

What do you mean longer timescales? Don’t day trade! That’s a way to kill cash.
