I read Larry’s book. I used to teach tennis on Long Island and one of my regulars was a man called Pat [name]. Larry thanks Pat in the book for helping him back in the day. I actually lent the book to Pat and he thoroughly enjoyed reminiscing!

My guest today is Larry Hite, a hedge fund manager, who, along with those like Ed Seykota, is one of the forefathers of system trading. He has been profiled and recognized as one of the best in the industry in numerous major international publications. He co-founded Mint Investments in 1981. By 1990, Mint had become the largest Commodity Trading Advisor in the world in terms of assets under management. In 1990, Jack Schwager dedicated a chapter of his bestselling book, Market Wizards to Hite’s trading and risk management philosophy.

I just heard the podcast with Zuckerman, where he couldn’t believe people were dying from the vaccine. I thought unkindly of him. I wonder if he has changed his tune now that the trial results are out from Pfizer.

My guest today is Justin Gest, an associate professor of Policy and Government at George Mason University’s Schar School of Policy and Government. He is the author of six books, primarily on the politics of immigration and demographic change, all from Oxford University Press or Cambridge University Press. His research has been published in journals including the British Journal of Politics and International Relations, Comparative Political Studies, Ethnic and Racial Studies, Global Governance, Global Policy, International Migration Review, Migration Studies, Polity, and Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

May I know if you interpret candlestick patterns or you just look at price action? I want to learn from you sir.

Price action only. You need:

• Exact rules for selecting your tracking portfolio.
• Exact rules for entering your trades at the right time.
• Exact rules for exiting your trades with a loss.
• Exact rules for exiting your trades with a profit.
• Exact rules for how much money to bet on each trade.

Candlesticks? No. Toss that idea away.

Originally I found it hard listening for a short time because you’re quite upfront but realised you are more about good. I have built my own trend following software over last 5 years or so, and you do help give me motivation. My software is in public release (my money) now and the market continues to amaze me. I’m still smiling. I’m 33 years of age, anyway. Your wealth of knowledge, thanks for sharing. Never made a dime in FX but me doing it for so many years hopefully shows you a bit about me.
