Hey Michael,

I’ve been a faithful fan of your podcast for years. In fact, I have a great collection of books that you and your guests have recommended. However, while I do think the system and rules are great and certainly a worthwhile venture, the fact is I’ve never felt confident or courageous enough to actually use it.

Unfortunately, I am old {70+} and relatively poor living on social security. So please tell me if you know of any mutual funds that have a trend following mindset? I found [name] which they say has access to [name] info which I put a few thousand into but would like to check out others. I looked at [name] with their minimum investment at 100k is obviously not going to work for me. If you have thoughts I would love to hear them!

I really enjoy listening to your discussions on the podcast and your wide range of guests. I confess I don’t get the sports references as I have never been a fan. But it’s all good, I still learn something. Thank you for all the hard work you put into books and podcasts. One of these days, I will be glad to watch your movie too!

My guest today is Ben Hunt. Ben spent a decade in academia as a Political Science professor at New York University before starting a couple of his own software companies, which he later sold. Ben then decided to conquer financial markets, serving as the Chief Risk Officer and Chief Investment Strategist for Salient, one of the country’s top asset management boutiques. Today, Ben is the co-founder and writer for Epsilon Theory, a website, and newsletter that examines markets through the lenses of game theory, history, philosophy, and sociology.

Hello Michael, I started reading your book today. I’ll be finishing it in the coming couple of weeks if the first pages are anything to go by. About that challenge: I am a sloppy trader. I know my (option) strategies and I’ve learned the hard way, the supreme importance of risk management and I am pretty good at sticking to max allocation but even now I tend to ‘wing’ it too often. Adjusting (improvising?) profit targets and too often waiting far too long to cut those losses. E.g. that ‘sure’ (come on. it cannot stay that cheap for that long, can it?) long call on AMZN. Down the toilet it ($800) goes, I had several weeks to cut that loss, I didn’t, loss aversion, it sucks. You get tons of these so my input will not be original. Here it is anyway, since you asked. Thanks for sharing these insights in your book (and the video you included here), it’s super interesting. Take care. Tony P.

Hi, I have been trying different things for 10+ years, all of which I have had to take time away from trading to cut myself off because of losses. Not lose the house losses but painful losses. The last 2 attempts, I have had to have my wife change my account passwords for a couple months. This is my choice. She supports my drive but in addition to the personal feeling of failure this has created another large challenge for me with having her watch me struggle with this. That is my biggest challenge. A feeling of not knowing what to do, going backwards not forwards and bringing my wife with me on the struggle. I want to figure this out!
