Hi Mike, Listened to your podcast for years. Love the rants. I am more of a discretionary trader than pure trend follower. I like Mark Minervini’s style but always happy to learn from masters. Just enjoyed Basso and Hite’s books. Will buy yours shortly to see what I can glean. Biggest challenge is staying with the trend and letting profits run after I have booked a drawdown. Cut losses like a champ, start thinking zeros when digging out of a hole.

I’m just starting out and still paper trading. Have been testing different strategies and landed on one that fits my lifestyle. My challenge has been to avoid jumping from one strategy to another based on the latest youtube video I watch, but I’m more comfortable now that I have found one I can stick with. I anticipate the next challenge will be to remain disciplined enough to stick with it as I paper trade from it for the rest of the calendar year while avoiding stopping out of profitable trades too early from fear of the trend reversing and risk facing a loss.

My guest today is Geoffrey Cohen, the James G. March Professor of Organizational Studies in Education and Business, professor of psychology and, by courtesy, at the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University. He is also a faculty affiliate of the Stanford Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence. His research focuses on how brief interventions can create long-lasting psychological and behavioral change. His focus has been on the psychology of self and belonging. He and his colleagues have shown how brief values-affirmations can benefit school performance, close political divides, and open people up to threatening information.

The topic is his book Belonging: The Science of Creating Connection and Bridging Divides.
