Good afternoon Michael,
About 3 months ago, while searching for a decent audio book to listen to while I am working with earmuffs on in the construction industry, I stumbled upon your “The Complete TurtleTrader: How 23 Novice Investors Became Overnight Millionaires“. I was intrigued to say the least.
I am slightly embarrassed to admit, but at that point in time I had absolutely zero trading experience and even less knowledge on how it all worked.
Sure I had heard the occasional jobsite story about “that person” that someone knew or had heard about that had allegedly made a fortune “trading” but for some reason I always thought the stories were exaggerated bullshit and figured successful trading was just good luck or some secret squirrel shit only people with a university degree in finance or mathematics could potentially pull off.
After listening to the preview, I purchased the book and listened to the entire thing in one day, I was gobsmacked, I couldn’t believe that something I thought was so convoluted was in fact so interesting, straight forward and able to be learnt by any human beings that are willing and prepared to apply themselves.
For that, I would like to thank you.
After this “awakening” I wanted to learn more so shortly thereafter I decided to sign up for your flagship course, which I am thoroughly invested in and absolutely loving.
For the last month or so, I have been busy trying to hone my new found skills on the “tradingview” “paper trading” platform.
I am unsure if this is the best platform to use as a training ground but I have found it has been awesome practice and training on many levels thus far.
However, one thing I am struggling with and hoping you may be able to help out with is the initial stock selection screening.
At the moment I am just setting the “change 1 month > 5%” and “Perf YTD > 10%” and the “price” on the stock screener and then I open the chart for each stock to look for breakouts, bollinger band breakouts or closes above the single moving average for potential entries.
My question is this, are there some more appropriate filters that you could recommend I could be adding into the stock screener that would help narrow down the companies and help with the entry signal searching process?
There are hundreds of different options and to be honest I have absolutely no idea what at least 3/4 of them actually do or mean.
Any help would be appreciated.
Andy M.
I recommend a deep dive. A start here will set you straight.
