My biggest challenge is to increase my current savings. I am a part-time retiree. I follow the suggested diversified portfolios as suggested by Merriman and others. In fact, it was a Paul Merriman podcast that led me to your books. It is my plan to use a small portion in a Roth account to segregate a trend following system.
Currently, my biggest challenge is how to ratchet down the trending strategy to layman’s terms. A recent article in Morningstar does define an approach using non-correlating ETFs (for which there is an entire universe) as a simple adaptation of the system.
I have read The Complete TurtleTrader and Trend Following and greatly enjoyed both books! I also have tracked the 20-day True Range for several ETFs just for practice and graphed the closing day prices.
Of course, I will not reach the robust results described in your writings nor will I short-sell. If I can at least tilt the trends in a positive direction, I could secure a better future.
