“I now follow the CANSLIM method which is chart reading and fundamentals…”

Feedback in:

Hello Michael,

I now follow the CANSLIM method which is chart reading and fundamentals. It talks about letting your winners run as does your system. My biggest problem is just that, I cannot let my winners run. I do cut my losses short at 7-8%. But allowing my winners run, well, I just get nervous at the first downturn. How do you stop that?

I have read The Little Book of Trading and I am reading Trend commandments now. Which do you suggest I read next?

Thanks for your time,
Timothy T.

My Trend Following book is a good start. BTW, no fundamentals.

“How much has the course changed between the original version and the newest…”

Feedback in:

Hello,

I purchased your original course back in ~2005.

The email address I used at that time was probably [email protected] (if needed to verify purchase).

How much has the course changed between the original version and the newest one?

Do you offer any upgrade offers to your updated Flagship/Pro Library course for owners of previous courses? Can this be combined with your wire xfer discount?

Thanks,
Amy S.

Flagship has extensively upgraded. This link describes my Professional Library. That second link gives you a completely upgraded Flagship + Professional.

“I wanted to say that I have been following your work for the past….”

Feedback in:

Hello Michael,

I hope you are well. And, you are the one reading this email. First, I wanted to say that I have been following your work for the past 7+ years. I am coming from a small country called Montenegro, located in southeast Europe. Beautiful country, but unfortunately very low-income one. Since I came to the USA, two years ago, I finally am able to buy the course! I do hope you are going to respond to my email and remove all the concerns I have. Thank you so much in advance! I have my own trend-following strategy, but, unfortunately, it only works on 4hr chart with maybe 50% of all instruments I have tested it on. When I get the system, I will test it out on a daily frame for multiple instruments, you did mention dozens of times that your trend-following system works on every instrument, so I would test the rules and see if it really does. What would happen if that is not the case? It’s still a lot of money for me, so I am afraid to buy something and find out later that it doesn’t work? Also, what do you say, is a retail trader going to be able to reproduce any result better than S&P500, since the costs of trading are much higher for non-institutional traders, do you have any recommendations for brokers? Once more, thank you so much for your work through the years, and I am looking forward to hearing back from you!

Kind regards,
[name]

Some thoughts on your perspectives:

1. Markets: trendfollowing.com/markets

2. You don’t trade one market as a trend follower. It’s also not short term or day trading. Trend following is not a 4 hr chart.

3. All markets don’t trend at all times, thus with real trend following there is a portfolio structure. I teach that. That said, trend following, including mine and others, works across so many markets because you are trading price (not the fundamentals). Price is universal.

4. Trend following is not for lightly traded or obscure markets that may be controlled by some whale. You want real markets, large liquid markets. There are plenty of those.

5. I am concerned as your understanding of what trend following is and your expectations seem off.

6. I help with broker ideas, but that is not a big issue. Not sure why you think it’s a big issue.

“My greatest trading issues are when to take profits…”

Feedback in:

Hi Michael,

Great book “The Complete Turtle Trader.” Will be reading the rest. My greatest trading issues are when to take profits and buying when things are trending up as opposed to the buy low sell high method. I’m pretty good at buying dips, but I would like to train my mind to buy stocks that are going up as well.

Thanks,
Morris A.

Buying dips is a bad strategy. Toss it!
