I hope this email finds you well.

Patience and uncertainty are my biggest challenges. I’m too impatient to wait to see a profit. (i.e. holding on to a stock for a year). Having a lack of experience in analyzing financial statements is my next challenge. I’ve read that financial statements are not appreciated much in trend following, but how does one pick healthy stocks that are about to go up soon, and not get delisted?

Let go of this fundamental mindset. You are chasing your tail. No one can pick stocks about to go up soon. That’s not trend following. Dive in.

“Does this mean the system only works on a daily basis, or can it work on a shorter time frame…”

Dear Michael,

Good morning!

Having looked at your website, and its charts, I notice that they are all daily results. Does this mean the system only works on a daily basis, or can it work on a shorter time frame? Please note that I tried it on five(5) minute periods and that seemed to work, so I am now trying it on hourly periods. My reasoning is that with shorter time frames there will possibly be less brokerage fees. Am I correct in this reasoning?

PS: I’m a 75 year old British expat living overseas. Also an ex-RAF avionics technician with a perfectionist bent, so this exacting methodology of sticking with only the price facts, appeals to me.

G’day Mike,

Greetings from Adelaide Australia.

After listening to many of your podcasts, I am going through each one from beginning to end and am somewhere in the mid 500s which places the time around early 2017.

I decided to tackle Atlas Shrugged as you mentioned it as an influence so many times, I was sure I wasn’t going to like it as I always thought of myself as slightly left of centre and yet I thoroughly enjoyed it and could not wait to get into reading it each evening. I agree with all that was put across in the story, maybe I’m not who I thought I was. I actually had a tear in my eye while reading about Rearden rescuing the boy who was attacked by the men who were trying to take over the mill.

My systems are charting a course through the turbulent waters we have been experiencing this year and I have experience first hand how the signals that are psychologically hard to take are sometimes the most rewarding.> Are you back in the States these days or in Asia still? Thanks for all your work. I have your epic Trend Following book as a main feature on my bookshelf and have bought others for friends who I think will read them. Many times you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make it drink is what I have found.
