I used to work in equity research and was always frustrated that most of our fundamental calls went bust. I am located in Brazil and constantly our local market is affected by politician speeches, volatile economy, external economy. It seemed like that dictated more if I was going to hit my price target than actual valuation. Also we were always looking for excuses to explain why the market went one way or another. A lot of bullshit. Then, in the last couple of year I decided to try a buy and hold strategy, which I thought was Warren Buffet’s strategy, but again due to highly volatile markets and the Corona Crash, a strategy that seemed to be working out, rapidly went bust. Got to know about you through [name] a Brazilian influencer that has been trying to spread the trend following mindset. He strongly recommends your books. I am reading trend following and loving it. I like being at my desk and trading micro e-mini futures. I watch the markets and I study a lot of trading and investing related topics. In studying the Turtles I heard you on a couple of podcasts. Among many items of concern, one of my problems is I have a hard time letting profits run. After reading about the turtle method of adding to winning positions I see my method of trading 2 contracts and exiting at 16 ticks for the first contract and at 40 ticks for the second is counter productive. As the singer says, I need a new drug, meaning a way to take my futures to a higher success rate.

I’ve never traded. The biggest challenge was finding a system that works from someone that is legit. The legit part was the hardest by the way. I do have a few investment letters that I follow as well as a smattering of index funds and I do have an average (+) understanding of the stock market. But trend following always innately made sense to me. I just have no idea how to do it which is obviously why I’m here. And not to blow smoke up your ass but I think you have one of the most interesting podcasts out there.
