2. Trade Your Way to Financial Freedom, Trading Beyond the Matrix, Super Trader, Van K. Tharp
3. Market Wizards, Jack Schwager
4. How to Trade in Stocks, Jesse LivermoreI started trend trading a little in 2018 starting with a £5k balance. I traded by spread betting mainly indices and forex with a few commodities using 10 min candles. I entered and exited on an EMA crossover and used a 20 Donchian channel for my stop risking 1% of my balance per trade. One of my challenges was realising that it would be rather difficult to make this my main source of income with such a small opening balance and I had the comfort of an income from working in our family business which I didn’t want to jeopardise. My biggest challenge was position sizing. Entering a trade was ok as was exiting. I have just re-read Van Tharp’s ‘Trade Your Way to Financial Freedom’ and ‘Trend Following’ by your good self but would like some real coaching ideally.

Hello, Hope all is well for you. I wanted to say thank you for what you do, it changed my life as an 18 year old. I feel like I look at the world through trend following lens, including my protection dog training business, down to sports gambling strategies. It has allowed me to keep gambling as a game and hobby, instead of an addiction. Originally, I thought your way of thinking was only important because I could make lots of money. Now I appreciate how it has evolved my thinking patterns outside the world of financial markets.

The biggest challenge I have faced in trading is not knowing what I don’t know. I’ve invested for a long time but started truly trading a year ago. With all of the “furus”, rooms, indicator products and more out there, I didn’t know where to start actually learning about trading. You simply can’t use the tools if you don’t know how. I know a lot after a year but it’s been like being thrown into the lake to learn how to swim. I somehow managed to stay alive and eventually even completed some casual races but I have never known what I was doing right or wrong. If I want to be an Olympian, I need to really learn how to do it and that means starting at some beginning and seeing where there are places to improve and even learn altogether.
