I understand equating your investing (trading) style to the VC guys or entrepreneurs, but I’m not catching the casino connection. Can you help me understand that please, so I can learn?

On average, wouldn’t the casino win more and lose less? Small consistent winnings that pay for the occasional big loss? Trend following would be a majority small losses with a minority big winners which exceed the losses, right?

Loved the “investing implies…” description, btw.

My guest today is Michael Muthukrishna, an Associate Professor of Economic Psychology at the London School of Economics. He is also Affiliate of the Developmental Economics Group at STICERD, Affiliate of the LSE Data Science Institute, CIFAR Azrieli Global Scholar in the Boundaries, Membership and Belonging programme at the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research, and Technical Director of The Database of Religious History. He is also a board member of the One Pencil Project. He is particularly interested in the application of research in cultural evolution to public policy.

The topic is his book A Theory of Everyone: The New Science of Who We Are, How We Got Here, and Where We’re Going.

My greatest challenge before reading Trend Following was getting lost in my never ending “macro” postulations that only led to frustration and to overly fixating on a few markets. Now I’m convinced I need to trade a non-discretionary system. I want to learn how to develop one and execute on it with discipline.

I started to see a buy side and sell side liquidity grab on Nvda with the hourly with the head and shoulders pattern on the daily as well and over all down trend on the chart got him on puts at high of day on a bounce to the down side. With the bear ETFs I started to see an uptrend on those due to spy and qqq selling off on a down trend. I’ve been meaning to ask you to send me that video and more stuff about trend following.
