My guest today is Sachin Khajuria, Founder & Chief Investment Officer at Achilles Management, a private investment business utilizing proprietary Artificial Intelligence technology. He’s a former partner at Apollo, one of the world’s largest alternative asset management firms, and an investor in funds managed by Blackstone and Carlyle, among other investment firms. He has twenty-five years of investment and finance experience.

Been catching up on your podcasts. All very good. The recent one on ‘silence’ was interesting as was your take on not speaking [a foreign language] which brings its own form of silence from all the noise around you. Trend following: I’m smart enough to know that I don’t have the full knowledge, tools and time to set up a proper trend following system to trade multiple markets and so gave some money to [fund manager].

Question 1: Am looking to add more money to trend following. Do you suggest giving more to [fund manager] or to ‘diversify’ with other trend following firms?

Question 2: Trend following has done great this year so far. Am also ok to ride through the eventual big draw-downs on the initial capital. But when do you suggest taking the gains and letting the initial capital to continue to run? We don’t know when the trend (of the overall portfolio) will turn and so also don’t want to give the back the gains.

I don’t offer a strategy for which fund managers to invest in.

I don’t offer a strategy for when to take profits.

You may want to explore equity curve trading.

Hello Michael, Well first I took a class in Algorithmic Trading only to learn I have no idea what trading is. Then I bought an ecourse on the fundamentals from an institutional trader in Forex and another ecourse with mentoring that deals with Binary Forex Options. Biggest challenge currently is how to read the market and understanding charts analysis.

Hey Michael,

I’ve been a faithful fan of your podcast for years. In fact, I have a great collection of books that you and your guests have recommended. However, while I do think the system and rules are great and certainly a worthwhile venture, the fact is I’ve never felt confident or courageous enough to actually use it.

Unfortunately, I am old {70+} and relatively poor living on social security. So please tell me if you know of any mutual funds that have a trend following mindset? I found [name] which they say has access to [name] info which I put a few thousand into but would like to check out others. I looked at [name] with their minimum investment at 100k is obviously not going to work for me. If you have thoughts I would love to hear them!

I really enjoy listening to your discussions on the podcast and your wide range of guests. I confess I don’t get the sports references as I have never been a fan. But it’s all good, I still learn something. Thank you for all the hard work you put into books and podcasts. One of these days, I will be glad to watch your movie too!

My guest today is Ben Hunt. Ben spent a decade in academia as a Political Science professor at New York University before starting a couple of his own software companies, which he later sold. Ben then decided to conquer financial markets, serving as the Chief Risk Officer and Chief Investment Strategist for Salient, one of the country’s top asset management boutiques. Today, Ben is the co-founder and writer for Epsilon Theory, a website, and newsletter that examines markets through the lenses of game theory, history, philosophy, and sociology.
