The New American Dream: Beer and Hookers?

Apparently from Marc Faber:

“The federal government is sending each of us a $600 rebate. If we spend that money at Wal-Mart, the money goes to China. If we spend it on gasoline it goes to the Arabs. If we buy a computer it will go to India. If we purchase fruit and vegetables it will go to Mexico, Honduras and Guatemala. If we purchase a good car it will go to Germany. If we purchase useless crap it will go to Taiwan and none of it will help the American economy. The only way to keep that money here at home is to spend it on prostitutes and beer, since these are the only products still produced in US. I’ve been doing my part”

  1. Sorry guys, but since the Bud, the most iconic american beer, was sold to INBEV years ago, I would say that the prostitutes became your only option to keep the whole money in the house.

Ps.: Please, don’t get me wrong…It’s just a joke!

  2. Faber may have passed along the quote, but since he’s a Swiss citizen who resides in Thailand, and therefore not a US taxpayer, he probably isn’t the original source.

  3. Yeah this doesn’t sound like Faber unless he was just trying to be cute. Have run into him a few times in Chiang Mai. He doesn’t drink American beer, and he’s not into American women (same same me). He has a very nice Thai-style house and rides his (non-American) motorcycle around town. I really doubt he much cares what’s going on in the US.
