Fun with Numbers

Recovery this and growth that — I don’t get it. If you borrow a ton of money to make economic growth happen…how can you leave the debt owed out of the discussion? It’s like a guy with a $5M house bragging about his wealth, but failing to mention that he owes $10M.

  1. I have a relative who is an expert on this subject. Before retiring, he worked as the managing officer in charge of collections in a small bank in a wealthy Chicago suburb. It was his desk that the file landed on when the big shot doctor who was married to the big shot law firm partner couldn’t pay their mortgage. He got a detailed view of the real finances of the supposed wealthy who were living on credit.
