Hey, we spoke briefly at the Bangkok Conference. I have just seen your movie “Broke“. It definitely could have used a more positive title [I made the case about my title in my speech at the event he references]. Overall it stands up very well to the other (similar) documentaries made during that time, as quite a few touched on similar topics. There was one issue that I noticed. You were asking a Japanese girl whether she buys lottery tickets. The translator said “only when the prize is high enough” when in reality the girl said “only when I feel like it”. There is a big difference there.
More than likely she said what is translated on the screen, but an alternate clip got put into the film during editing–when there are always too many chefs in the kitchen. Thanks for the catch!
